Michael Jackson, Virgo Sun, and his 'Roids
Jacob Schwartz
You are entering a new frontier of meaning in
geocosmic astrology, in your life, and in your understanding of the relationship
between sounds and experiences, between names and events.
Here the abstract meanings of planets, signs, houses and aspects blend with
names--your name, and the names of important persons and places in your
life! The associations include the names of relatives, loved ones, children,
friends, animal companions, plants, artists, composers, historical figures,
mythological figures, mountains, lakes, rivers, cities, and nations.
Asteroids add real people and real places to our horoscopes. Connecting
them with planets, zodiac signs and houses, and with each other, produces
patterns of relationships describing those same persons and places. The
asteroids bearing names relevant to your life become "your" asteroids
because the collected names of people and places in your life carry a unique
quality of identity no less meaningful than your birth data. Indeed, this
is difficult to believe. But true none the less. From time to time, columns
will appear here relating personalities and news events with asteroids relevant
to the people and places involved. Since this is the time for Michael Jackson
solar return, he was born 29 August 1958, we'll start with him. Asteroid
material are available to describe the Susan Smith and the O J Simpson stories.
Asteroids are those thousands of huge rocks orbiting around the Sun, usually
between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. Some astrologers consider them merely
cosmic gravel with no value in interpreting horoscopes. But, as will be
demonstrated here, asteroids not only describe abstract concepts from mythology,
but they specifically relate to people like you and me. They were first
discovered two centuries ago when names were chosen only for mythological
goddesses, e.g. Ceres, Pallas, Juno, Vesta, Astraea. But when the number
of asteroids began to exceed the goddesses, names were chosen to honor colleagues
and historical figures of both genders, as well as flowers, cities, mountains,
lakes, nations and ideas. As of the end of 1993, over 6000 have computed
orbits, and almost 4500 have names given by their astronomer discoverers
or others in the scientific community.
Asteroids, in this last decade of the 20th century are receiving more public
attention than ever before. NASA photographed a closeup of Gaspra, the first
asteroid ever seen with a specific shape in 1992. Most scientists agree
an asteroid was responsible for the extinction of dinosaurs. An asteroid
about 15 miles in diameter almost collided with Earth in 1989 and another
smaller asteroid, about 30 meters wide, came closer to Earth than any known
asteroid in 1993, closer than half the distance to the Moon. A near collision
with another asteroid is expected in the 22nd century. Many scientists now
agree that the mysterious massive explosion in 1908 over Tonguska, Siberia,
flattening hundreds of square miles of land, was the result of an asteroid
exploding just before impact with Earth.
Astrologically, asteroids represent the gate to
the individual. Here we move from abstract keywords of planets to explicit
people, places, and things. "As above, so below" now includes
"The Name." Except for the rare person named Venus, people are
not named for planets. But most people, places and things carry the name
of an asteroid, such as Monica (#833), Chicago (#334), Toyota (#3533) and
Beer (#1896). The symbolism is clear and direct.
What appears to be "whim" or "coincidence" in naming
asteroids correlates with earthbound events as much as more abstract concepts
assigned planets. And correlations are not limited to the intent of the
person naming the asteroid. By blending the deeply personal asteroid name
with more abstract meanings of planets, houses and aspects, the horoscope
becomes richer and explicit. And asteroid returns are as impressive as solar
and lunar returns.
Because they are so small and so abundant, asteroids can focus upon explicit
relationships between people, places and things; they simply identify the
name of the who, the name of the place, the name of the what, and when these
names connect.
The significant asteroids for Michael Jackson are Michel (#1045) and Jackson
(#2193) obviously. Asteroids are numbered by astronomers in order of their
discovery. He named his place of delight Neverland, and there's asteroid
#5405 with that name in addition to Pan (#4450) for the shepherd deity but
also the name of a James Barrie play, Peter Pan, featuring the magical sky
island Neverland. When Jackson was born, the asteroids Michel, Jackson,
Pan and Neverland were in a straight line with Venus and Jupiter, planets
symbolizing beauty and abundance. Is it any wonder Michael named his palace
of delight Neverland?
In the summer of 1993, 13-year old Jordan Chandler
accused Jackson of child abuse, and Jackson's reputation went sour with
notably fewer performances and recordings, and settling the case out of
court for a reputed $15 million. This new limitation is represented by Saturn,
and the relevant asteroid is Giordano (#5148), the Italian form of Jordan.
Well, guess what? That summer, asteroid Giordano was lined up with Saturn,
and asteroids Michel and Jackson? It was not a very good summer for Michael's
and Jordan's. The basketball star Michael Jordan lost his father then to
a highway robber.
Last spring, Jackson and Lisa-Marie Presley married, and Jackson suddenly
became step father to his bride's children Priscilla and Benjamin. Well,
there are asteroids named Maria (#170), Priscilla (#2137), and Benjamin
(#976). Guess where they were in the heavens on the marriage date, May 26,
1994? They were conjunct asteroid Jackson in a 16 degree arc!
This is just a sample of the "coincidences" that may be more profound
than they appear. Asteroid names just might carry a relation to sounds,
vibrations, and frequencies triggering the naming by the astronomer, and
prompting parents to name children, and events with the names to suddenly
"come together." When the musical group Peter Paul and Mary first
performed, the three asteroids with those names were conjunct in the constellation
Leo! When Nancy Kerrigan was attacked last year, the asteroid Harding was
rising, Tanya was setting conjunct mischievous Pluto, and asteroid Shane--the
name of the man actually hurting Nancy was directly on the 4th house cusp,
forming a T-square with Harding and Tanya!! Coincidence? And when O J Simpson
was born, when Nicole Brown was born, and when she was murdered, the asteroid
Oja was on the same longitudinal axis!
