Flower
Essence Practice--the Beginnings
Treatment
of emotional, physical, and spiritual ailments by use of flower
essences began in the 1930s through the efforts of the English physician,
Dr. Edward Bach--though the practice has its roots in the time-honored
principles and methods of homeopathy. Over time, Dr. Bach saw that
his patients' physical illnesses seemed to be rooted in negative
psychological and mental states such as fear, anxiety, insecurity,
a poor self image, anger, and resentment. He says, "True healing
involves treating the very base of the cause of suffering, therefore
no effort directed to the body alone can do more that superficially
repair damage. Treat people for their emotional unhappiness, allow
them to be happy, and they will become well." (Alternative
Medicine: The Definitive Guide. Fife, Washington: Future Medicine
Publications, p.232.
Through
the efforts of many researchers and practioners, Dr. Bach's original
38 English flower essences, have been joined in recent years by
hundreds more from California, Australia, and beyond. Others have
determined that gem stones, and even the essential energies of planets
and stars, may be used to formulate remedies similar to the flower
essences in application and effect.

"Heaven
on Earth"--A Brief Description
Barbara
says: "I have found that the flower essences can be used in
conjunction with astrology to establish a greater wholeness, internal
balance and sense of harmony. Certain flowers and gem essences seem
to have affinities with specific signs and planets. For example,
Impatiens or Vervain are helpful for those with a strong natal Mars
(Aries types) or who have an emphasis on the element of fire in
their chart (those that tend to be more energetic, aggressive, impatient.)
If you need more Mars/Aries/Fire energy, Cayenne, or Mountain Pride
might be good choices.
"Over
the years I have also come to realize that the experiences of certain
astrological configurations can be mitigated or enhanced with the
flower essences. The "essence" of the "Heaven on
Earth" method, is to take the right remedy at the astrolologically
right time for its most efficacious results.
