Astrology - What is it? |

Professional
astrologers, as the name suggests,
take astrology seriously and make their
living by practicing the art with a high level of skill and commitment.
Expect a professional astrologer to demonstrate
extensive training and experience, professional attitude
and demeanor, strong ethical principles, and knowledge of both the
efficacy and the limits of astrological practice.
Computerized Astrology Reports?
Actually they're quite good, especially for the
casual user and beginning astrology student (no need to look up
the interpretations in a book)—or for
the "just curious." But you get much more from a professional
consultation, which is:
Personalized, not just individualized.
You get the chance to make the consultation
specific, to ask questions and give important background
information. And you can benefit from the counseling
skills of the astrologer.
Synthesized, not just organized.
The computer has gotten pretty good, but
still gives you a list rather than a unified meaning for the complex
formations found in every chart—like this T-square: Sun in
Cancer in the 11th House, square Moon in
Pisces in the 8th, opposite Neptune in Virgo
in the 2nd.
Humanized, not just informative.
You get the subtleties of the astrologer as
artist, the benefit of a life of experience in Soulwork. And you
may form a relationship that lasts many
years.

 Consultant,
since 1974, in a vigorous astrological practice in Chicago,
with both individual and corporate clients—including marketing
consultation to a number of
major Chicago firms. Most interesting recent assignment: choosing
the opening dates for the Australian production of Jesus Christ
Superstar and her on-going relationship with Harry M. Miller
Enterprises, Sydney, selecting dates for all of the agency's
musical and theatrical openings.
Author
of Astrology Alive!: A Guide to Experiential Astrology
and the Healing Arts, (The Crossing Press, 1998). German
edition published in 1992 as Astrologie Live.
Contributing
Writer for the Mountain Astrologer, Dell
Horoscope, and The Monthly Aspectarian and for the
German magazine Meridian and the Dutch journal Symbolon.
Pioneer
in the field of Experiential Astrology with eighteen years of
teaching, leadership, and production in experiential performance
and theater (Producer of the Rising Stars, an astrological mythic
theater group).
Trained,
for twelve years, under the auspices of Swami Kriyananda,
Temple of Kriya Yoga, Chicago, studying
astrology, yoga, and the development of consciousness.
Certified
by the one-year Oasis Center Facilitator Training Program
(Chicago) with developed skills in group facilitation.
Experienced
as a teacher and workshop leader (see Lectures,

Australia. She was Experiential Track Co-ordinator of the
United Astrology Congress '86, '89, and '92.

as an Advisory Board Member of AFAN (Association for Astrological
Networking) and served as Chairman of its Media Watch committee.

in 1993 and 1995 for the prestigious Regulus Award for her contributions
to astrology and the astrology community.

The
Temple of Kriya Yoga |

The
Temple of Kriya Yoga
Most of my
early training in astrology came from my Guru, Kriyananda, of
the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago. Kriyananda's Guru, Shellyji,
was a living disciple of Yogananda, who brought yoga to the West.
Kriya, in the narrow sense, is a system of breathing techniques
that allow "the Breath to be stilled and thereby dissolve
the mind, intellect, and ego in order to achieve the egoless state
of Pure Consciousness." (Yogananda, Autobiography of a
Yogi—the essential book on Kriya). Kriya is intimately
connected to astrology. "Kriya Yoga identifies the chakras
with the zodiacal and planetary energies; the pattern of their
arrangement corresponds to the natal chart, and they are seen
to be affected by the planetary transits." (Quoted from Chapter

The Temple has a bookstore with hard to find texts on astrology
as well as yoga, including Kriyananda's writings. They will ship
directly to you anywhere in North America. Especially valuable
